Intercessory Prayer Ministries 

The Intercessory Prayer Ministry of MUMC was born out of the belief that God wants us to ask for what we need and when we are unable or unwilling to ask for ourselves, others may intercede for us. Today,
there are 25 members of this congregation actively praying for the needs expressed by the church family during each worship service or on prayer cards that are available in each pew.  These volunteers are
also willing to pray with individuals in the chapel as a need arises.
Prayer Ministry volunteers can be identified by a purple ribbon affixed to their nametags. The Intercessory Prayer Ministry is not just for Sunday mornings, however. With the additional of over 40 volunteers, the Prayer Quilt Ministry continues our belief in the power of prayer as they cut, place and sew prayer quilts.  These quilts are then given to a person for whom a request has been made.  On Sunday mornings, these names are lifted up and each person in the congregation is invited to tie a
knot and say a prayer on the recipient's behalf.  When we present a gift of a hand tied quilt, with each knot representing a prayer for a person in need, it is a quiet affirmation of our faith.
